[A woman comes on the video with a smile, and she's sitting in one of the lounges, looking relaxed. Well, mostly relaxed, every so often, her thumb brushes across the new mark on her palm. Following the lines of the snake eating it's own tail, she's done it so often now she can do it without looking. Her voice is normal though, despite the fidgeting.]

Hello. For those who didn't meet me yet, I'm Martha Jones, and I'm a doctor. If you've need of one, you can always come to me. [In case you don't want to see the people in the medical center is what Martha means.]

You sound as though you are building up the foundations of a gothic ghost story.

Not ghosts, I'm afraid. Aliens and time travel, with a fair amount of low level mind control as well.

Two of those things not only exist where I am from, but are used with some regularity. Why should I refuse to suspend my disbelief for aliens, exactly?

Some people have beliefs that only go so far.

And some believe that a man who claims to be a character from a storybook is exactly who he says he is, rather than a liar or a madman.

[She suspended her disbelief for him; he can attempt it for her.]

[Fair enough, Martha decides, and it takes her a second before she begins speaking in a tone that is entirely all business. There's no storyteller lilt; this story needs to be as short and factual as possible in order to make it hurt the least amount.]

Alright, I traveled through time with an alien called a Time Lord, there was another one of them who was evil. He used mind control to become Prime Minister of Great Britain, and then he took over the world. I was the only one who could stop him. He killed over four billion people and enslaved the human race for a year until I stopped.

[Odd, how she can go from overly personal to clinical so quickly. Odd how she can show such concern about him when he's dizzy, and then present a devastating incident with all the emotion of a woman reciting the dictionary.

[There's some of the emotion that she'd been avoiding in this statement, a quiet yearning for him to believe her.]

[He studies her, all amusement and snark gone from his demeanor now.]

Doctor, all mockery aside, I would not have requested you if I didn't believe you were capable.

[That is...an awkward question.

He still isn't quite sure how much about his current state he wants to tell her - but he did trust her enough to request her, at least as a medical professional.]

I think your education is a valid enough reason for now. I need a doctor as much as I need a Sentinel.

[Fair enough, if that's what he wants to go with, then Martha will go into doctor mode.]

How is the wound on your neck?

No longer smelling strongly of antiseptic. I unsure whether that means anything to you.

[You know, as close as it is to his face and all, the antiseptic smell doesn't go unnoticed when it's in abundance.]

What do the doctors in the clinic say? Are you still seeing them?

I have little choice in the matter - unless you care to have me contacting you at all hours about my condition.

Do they seem to have some expertise in the matter?

[Magical snake bites and all of that.]

No. I am, at the moment, an enigma to them, and they are delighting in prodding me with varying sizes of needles.

But I am alive, which is more than can be said for the ability of the Healers in my world.

Next time you go in, I'll come with you, if you'd like. That way I can talk to them and make sure they aren't doing anything you don't need.

I'm sure they'll be thrilled to have yet another voice of dissent during my appointments.
