[ There's a young person on the screen of the first broadcast since the new batch arrived. Other older members have used the network for their own communication, of course, but this one has all the hallmarks of a freshfaced, uncomfortable but trying newbie. ]

Um... so, what are we supposed to do here? I had a job back home... and I know—once we're assigned we might have more to do, but as it is, I'm just...

[ Beat. Casey's face turns a little red. ]

Right, my name is Casey. Everything here is a little weird for me — from what I understand, nothing here is powered by magic? Ah, but I guess I might be the weird one. No one else has said anything. My point was, it feels a lot like coming into something halfway. Where do we start? Is this it?

That's not it. I'm just really nervous. Even when we're not... like we are right now. Kidnapped.

[Tim snorts quietly.] Yeah, well. I think kidnapping would make even the most stoic person a little nervous.

Well... that's probably true.

[ They're quiet for a minute. ]

Is that a no?

Definitely not a no. Like I said, I'm pretty curious.

[dragonaught]

Oh... o-okay.

[ Casey straightens, tries to bolster their resolve. ]

We should probably meet somewhere kind of open. If there's any... gardens or habitats, it would be better.

I think we can find... someplace like that. There has to be some kind of courtyard or something like that. Even if there aren't any doors to the actual outside.

[He's totally been looking.]

[ They look away, briefly, not liking the idea of inescapable. Eventually they turn back to the camera. ]

Did you want to search together?

[Yeah, Tim knows that feeling pretty well.]

Yeah. That would be good. Where can I meet you?

[dragonaught]

I...

... I haven't really left my room much, so I guess around there would be a good start.

[Tim grins a little.]

I'm pretty sure I can find that, if you tell me where you are I've been doing some exploring.

Oh, right. I'm around [ there's a floor level, and an idea of which room it is. ]

[Aaaand several minutes later, there will be a knock at the door. Time to meet your new exploring buddy!]

[ Thankfully, Casey's expecting this and the door opens very soon afterward. They aren't all that tall and the frailness only seems more noticeable in person. That anxiousness hovering over them like a cloud doesn't help at all. ]

Oh... Hi. You got here.

[ Yeah, this young man is definitely not a presence at all. ]

Well, I'm not too bad at following directions. [grin] Nice to meet you in person.

[...Where Casey looks like a stiff breeze would knock them over. Tim knows better than to judge by appearances, but they definitely look like someone who could actually need protection from the things that go bump in the night.]

Nice to meet you, too.

[ In-person, at least, it's easier for Casey to be less nervous. It's less... broadcast and awkward. ]

Do you have any idea where we might start looking?

[He hums thoughtfully.]

Well, I haven't found any outside doors, but Maybe there are some courtyards, or--I don't suppose we could use a large athletic space? I think there's a basketball court, or something like that.

[dragonaught]

Having real ground around would be better but I could probably manage something with just space.

[ Although earth magic doesn't need the presence of earth to be used, it's certainly much less taxing to use what's there than to manifest it from nothing. Maybe they'll try one of the other magics...? No, a bad idea. They hardly know how to even call upon them yet. ]

Well, we'll try to find a garden or something, then. I mean, if we're going to be here indefinitely, and they're caring for all of our needs... I'm not much of a gardener, but I'm sure someone is, so there's probably one around here somewhere.

[dragonaught]

Gardens are pretty relaxing, too.

[ Casey doesn't garden, but what humanoid doesn't have an appreciation for the labors of the earth? ]

So... there should be a few, if this is as big as they're saying.

Right. [He gives Casey a quick grin.] Shall we?

[dragonaught]

[ Casey shifts, tries to look a little more confident, and nods. ]

Yeah... sure. Um, you can lead the way.

[ They really weren't kidding when they said they hadn't gotten out much. ]

[That's okay. Tim's got them covered. He picks a direction, and they're off!]

I have to admit, most of the exploring I've done so far has centered around finding a way out, so I haven't been as attentive to the doors that don't lead to an exit. I'm still learning my way around.

[dragonaught]

[ Definitely better than Casey's got. They can make their way to food and back, at least? ]

Hear they let you aboveground if you have a sentinel with you. Have you tried that?
